This… Not This

No!

This is one of the first words we learn in life.

It’s no wonder that we use it so often, really.

We find ourselves in a very frequent situation where we don’t want.

We don’t want to be poor.  We don’t want to hurt.  We don’t want to be sick.  We don’t want this, we don’t want that.

But if you ever notice, the more you don’t want something, the more it seems to show up.

Nature, it seems, has a hard time distinguishing wants from don’t wants.

The reason for this can be summed up with a simple maxim: “Energy flows where attention goes.”

While you’re focused on not wanting a thing, you’re still focused on that thing!

So…  you get that thing.

So try, instead:

“This, not this.”

This deceptively simple statement has very profound meanings, one of which relates to what we’re talking about now.

Instead of “I don’t want this,” you might try “Rather than this, this.”

You might spend your life focused on all the things you don’t want, such as poverty, disease, war, pollution, etc, or you might spend your life focused on the things that you do want, such as abundance, health, peace, a healthy world, etc.

This, not this.

Instead of telling yourself “No!” when confronting some habit you don’t want, instead, focus on what you want from not having that habit.

This, not this.

As you continue practicing this, you’ll find that your thinking begins naturally to shift to those things that you prefer, rather than those things that you don’t.

You may find yourself amazed at the results.

This, not this.

May this be useful to you.
