I awoke this morning with these words in my head:
“You are the light of the world.
You cannot hide a city that has been built upon a mountain.
And they do not light a lamp and set it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all those who are in the house.
Thus your light will shine before the children of men that they may see your good works, and may glorify your Father who is in Heaven.”
~ Jesus of Nazareth
Do you let yourself shine?
We too often hide our light.
We hide our light from our employers, our spouses, our families, our neighbors, anyone and everyone who might see!
We fear being shunned and ridiculed. It’s simple genetic cause and effect. The herd is safety, so we must conform to the herd.
But those days of hiding from predators are over, aren’t they?
Yet, still we hide our light.
It’s an ingrained, subconscious pattern that leaves us unhappy and struggling.
But we were never meant to live this way.
So I tell you this, “SHINE!”
Shine the light of the God-within on those around you!
Shine it on yourself!
Shine it on your pets!
Shine it on your neighbors!
Shine it on your family!
But above all, SHINE!
Please, use a measure of common sense and temper the glare of your light a bit.
We use lampshades, not to hide light, but to soften it.
But we let that lamp shine!
So shine, my friends!
Shine with love! Shine with happiness! Shine with joy!
Be the light of the world!
This is your life!
Let yourself live it to the very fullest, wringing every last drop of experience from every single moment.
Allow yourself to be the Highest version of You there ever was!
I guarantee you, if you shine your inner light on those around you, especially if your harmonize your brilliance, you’ll find that they light up as well!
